Living Water

Water is a necessity for life, but Jesus is the necessity for life and water to have purpose.

The sight of a sinning Samaritan woman talking with a Jew was astounding, and for the Son of God to be asking for a drink of water would provide for deeper conversation and significance. Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” – John 4:13-14 The water jar was not to be simply filled with water, it's comparison was for her to be filled with living water.

Jesus knew her sins and her story, but provided hope. To have Jesus, to have the Spirit, and to worship God! "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in Truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." – John 4:23

She knew that the Messiah was coming. What she did not realize was that the one that was asking her for a drink was the Savior. I would suggest that she must have been amazed or maybe even surprised and dropped her water jar running back to town, but she definitely went back to town spreading the Truth. Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” – John 4:39

The choice is ours to have Jesus in our hearts and lives. Are you filled with the Spirit, are you a vessol for the Lord?
